Ready to sign up? My commitment to you.

I assist students, recent graduates, and those seeking a new career in the law from all over the country in preparing themselves to compete for law school admission offers. I work with each applicant from the start of the process, which begins with a detailed conversation about strategy and timing, all the way through to the final acceptance of the winning law school offer.  As an advisee of PrelawAdvisor.com, there is no limit to the number of law schools to which you can apply with my assistance.

I help each applicant select appropriate schools and together we construct an appropriate timeline for law-related work, applications, law-related reading, the LSAT, and negotiations with each school as necessary (waitlists, hold categories, financial aid, etc.). I serve as an independent advocate for applicants. My loyalty is to you, not to any law school.

My objective is to help you through a complex and highly competitive process, so that you have developed: (1) a strategy to earn admission offers from the best possible law schools; and (2) a perspective on what it takes to compete effectively within law school, particularly during the challenging first year; while (3) building a foundation for a successful transition to professional work in the years immediately after law school.

My normal method of operation is by use of telephone calls, e-mail and faxes. You don't have to budget any travel costs to work with me. I work with law school applicants all over the country, as well as those traveling or working internationally.

I am a graduate of Georgetown University's JD/MSFS and LL.M programs. I've worked as a lawyer in private practice, in corporate legal practice for IBM, and as Georgetown University's prelaw advisor. I'm also the pro bono general counsel of the ministry Faith and Action in the Nation's Capital, in Washington, DC. Since 1996, I have assisted over 1,000 applicants in their law school admission efforts. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and the American Association of Christian Counselors (including its life coaching certification).

I charge a one-time fee of $1,950, which is payable by you at the start of our process of working together. Just give me a call at 703/237-8531 or send me a message to begin our planning, at your convenience.

Here is a copy of my contract for you.  When I receive your payment, I will e-mail a copy to you for your records:

PrelawAdvisor.com

Advisee Agreement for Comprehensive Prelaw Advisory Services

Date:

Advisee:

In consideration of the Advisee’s payment of $1,950.00, Brad Dobeck, Esq., president of PrelawAdvisor.com, will provide the Advisee with comprehensive prelaw advisory services. My goal is to assist you in: (1) earning the best possible law school admission offers; (2) guiding you along an appropriate law-related developmental path; and (3) helping you understand the realities of your future law school competition, so that you are informed about how to achieve outstanding performance during your critical first year of law school.

Brad Dobeck will:

Serve as the Advisee’s strategist, advocate and ally in the process of competing for offers from the recommended target law schools.

Develop a strategy for you, which includes: consideration of law-related work or internships; selection of law schools and program type; LSAT preparation recommendations and test date timing; the timing of submission of your applications; development of a highly creative and persuasive personal statement concept; advice on all other application documents, including optional essays, addendums, answers to questions and certifications; selection and preparation of your recommenders; recommendation of a delivery method of the application; dealing with any waitlist situation; negotiation of any desired start-date deferral; and assistance in leveraging your position for the best possible cost discounting by the law schools.

Recommend books to read, law schools to visit (both cyber trips and actual visits), and provide performance tips.

Seek to spare the Advisee from learning the lessons of the law school admission process the hard way (that is, by rejection or poor results). But to do so, you have to understand that I must at times simulate the toughness and impersonal nature of the law school admission process. However, I will always be on your side.

Attempt to respond, normally, within two business days to your phone calls or e-mails. Please give me a little flexibility during the busiest times of the year. I will also take an occasional vacation day (as should the Advisee!).

Should the recommended strategy fail to achieve at least one law school admission offer acceptable to the Advisee, I will assist the Advisee during the next admission cycle, without any additional charge.

Your Responsibilities as Advisee:

Implement the strategy agreed upon.

Act upon my recommendations, to the best of your ability, paying close attention to all of the details, as law schools require precision and thoroughness.

You give me permission to speak to you candidly, and to edit your work without reservations, so that your applications will meet the high standards sought by law schools.

Once application documents are approved by me, do not make any further substantive changes to them without discussing all proposed changes with me first. Some people cannot resist endless tinkering, despite a document’s carefully constructed nature and completed status. Foolish mistakes can end up in final applications, to your detriment, through such unapproved changes.

Our Joint Operating Principles:

One of the most important factors for you to have in this process is mental flexibility. Hold the goal of going to law school firmly in mind, but please retain an open mind as to how to best achieve this goal. Mentally flexible applicants are the most successful, in my experience.

Law schools set very high standards for written work. We will attempt to meet them, working together. Attention to correct details is critical. Law schools seek work that is subtle, complex and nuanced, excellent in every detail. Proper grammar and spelling are absolutely essential.

There are no dumb questions. Ask anything on your mind. But please learn from each discussion, so that we don’t have to cover the same points repeatedly. Execute corrections to the best of your ability.

In some ways, the law school admission process is quite rigid. Yet in other ways, it can be flexible, allowing for your creativity. I’ll help you understand when flexibility in your response is permissible.

Parents are always welcome to call or e-mail their questions or concerns.

You agree to email me reports of all practice LSAT results, changes in your thinking and goals, and significant developments in your life that might affect your law school plans. You agree also to report all significant law school communications to me. Please keep me informed. It is your responsibility to do so.

In order to avoid making mistakes that might adversely affect your applications, please do not contact law school admission offices on your own, before checking with me first.

If you agree to the terms of this Advisee Agreement for Comprehensive Prelaw Advisory Services, please make your payment, using the PayPal button below, or by mailing a check to PrelawAdvisor.com at the address below.

The $1,950 fee you pay is non-refundable.

Thank you very much. I look forward to working with you!

Sincerely,

Brad Dobeck, Esq.
